I joined the WBIR news team in June 2014 and love telling the stories of East Tennesseans!
I graduated Magna Cum Laude with departmental honors in journalism from Texas Christian University (Go Horned Frogs!) with a degree in broadcast journalism. After interning at KYTX-TV in Tyler, Texas, during my sophomore year, I discovered my passion for covering television news.
I also interned with WFAA-TV in Dallas, Texas, and KMID-TV in Midland, Texas, where I made my on-air debut. During the JFK 50th Anniversary, I had the opportunity to intern with Face the Nation and the CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley.
Throughout my college career, I worked as a multimedia reporter, team leader and managing editor for TCU360, the digital-first online news source for TCU. At the 2014 Texas Intercollegiate Press Association awards, I was awarded first place in News Non-Feature Story and first place in Audition Tape for my work with TCU360.
I had the unique honor of being Miss Texas 2011. I represented the Lone Star State in the 2012 Miss America Pageant on ABC where I was a top 10 semi-finalist and awarded overall instrumentalist. Through the Miss America Organization, I earned more than $30,000 in scholarships that went toward finishing my college degree. During my year as Miss Texas, I traveled the state speaking about my platform "Leukemia: Living for a Cure" in honor of my dad, who was diagnosed with Chronic Myelogenous Leukemia in 2007.
When I'm not reporting, I enjoy public speaking, volunteering, trying new restaurants, traveling, working out, reading, Netflixing, or online shopping.
I'm always looking for story ideas, so feel free to send me yours at email@example.com
