Woman accused in rape case faces Sept. 23 hearing
The wife of a former Knox County high school coach faces a Sept. 23 court hearing on charges she had sex with an underage football player.
Kelsey McCarter is charged with six counts of statutory rape and one count of exploiting a minor.
McCarter was in court on Thursday, but Knox County Criminal Court Judge Scott Green set a status update for Sept. 23.
McCarter is married to Justin McCarter, a former assistant coach at South-Doyle High School who resigned in February. Justin McCarter is not charged.
McCarter is accused of having sex with the boy after he came to live in their household.
Two other South-Doyle administrators were placed on leave while officials investigated the case.
Principal Tim Berry and Clark Duncan, assistant principal and athletic director, returned to work last month. They are not charged in the case.
