The Christmas season starts during Thanksgiving weekend this year with Gatlinburg's Festival of Trees at the Gatlinburg Convention Center.

Festival of Trees officially begins Wednesday, but the festivities start Tuesday night at 6 p.m. with the returning Candy Canes and Cocktails Preview Party and Silent Auction.

There will be local entertainment throughout the week and children's crafting stations available for a small fee. Many elaborately decorated Christmas trees will be available for purchase.

Santa will make appearances Friday through Sunday. New to this year's event is Breakfast with Santa on Saturday from 8:30-9:30 a.m.

Tickets to Candy Canes and Cocktails are $35. Breakfast with Santa adult tickets are $15 and children's tickets are $10.

All proceeds benefit Boys & Girls Club of the Smoky Mountains, an organization that gives more than 1,600 youth across Sevier County a safe place to learn and participate in character-building programs.
