New thrill for BMS fans: Rappel off the Bristol Tower

Over the Edge, a professional rappelling organization, will assist those brave enough to take the plunge to help raise funds for SCC and the YWCA.

Bristol Motor Speedway has been giving fans experiences that are truly over the top for decades. But this one is literally taking the thrill to new heights.

A fundraiser is being planned for April to benefit Speedway Children's Charities' Bristol chapter that will allow people to rappel or be lowered off the the famous Bristol Tower that stands 10-stories high on the BMS campus.

Over the Edge, a professional rappelling organization, will assist those brave enough to take the plunge to help raise funds for SCC and the YWCA.

"It's the weekend right before our NASCAR races here at BMS. We have about 85 slots for people to rappel. So we'll have a VIP and then on April the 7th we'll have 85 rappellers," SCC spokesperson Betsy Holleman told News 5 on Thursday.
