Blount County veterans spent their Flag Day honoring one East Tennessee woman for the hours of work she put in to honor those who served.
Representatives from the VFW honored Kathy Kaun with an award for her hard work. She made 15 quilts for the Veterans of Foreign Wars Alcoa post.
She said she is happy to make those quilts, as a way to bring attention to the sacrifice veterans make.
“We have freedoms that a lot of people who have never served take for granted and the veterans should be shown that we do appreciate their service and this is one way to do it,” said Kaun.
