Americans across the country will honor and remember those who served in the armed forces on Veterans Day.

Hundreds of people lined the streets of downtown Knoxville for the 91st Knoxville Veterans Day Parade on Friday morning.

It started around 10:40 a.m. and was broadcast live on WBIR and the WBIR Facebook page..

The parade started at the Knoxville Coliseum, headed up Howard Baker Jr. Avenue to Church Street, then turned right and followed Gay Street to Depot Avenue.

The crowd waved flags and cheered as members of the armed forces marched down the streets.

Knoxville’s parade was one of many things to do on Veterans Day in East Tennessee:

· Gatlinburg will honor veterans at the Plaza at Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies at 11 a.m. Friday.

· The Tennessee Museum of Aviation in Sevierville is open Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

· The Manhattan Project National Historical Park in Oak Ridge is open Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

· Tennessee state parks offers Sgt. Alvin C. York State Historic Park in Pall Mall offers daily tours of the York home starting at 9 a.m.
