East Tennessee has lost a true original.

Roy Edward Baker, known as Roy Boy, passed away on Saturday.

We first met Roy Boy back in 2007, when Ken Schwall ran into him on the UT campus. You couldn't miss him-- decked out head to toe in his unique Tennessee gear. And Ken soon learned his personality was just as fun and special as his outfit.

He went on to win the Positively Schwall Man of the Year award.

A couple of year's later, Ken got a tour of Roy Boy's home, and again, Roy Boy's unique and playful personality was everywhere.

You also get a feel for this free spirit in his obituary, which tells tales of the mischief Roy Boy would get into in the Kentucky mining town where he grew up.

He was an accomplished musician, artist, and performer.

He was very patriotic, and you may have seen his little red and white pickup truck with the American flag proudly displayed in parades and at local events.

His family says Roy Boy will be laid to rest this weekend in his hometown of Hazard, Kentucky.
