2 suspects at large after Parkview Ave robbery and shooting, victim ID'd

The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Cornell Bailey.

One man was shot in the leg during an apparent robbery in Northeast Knoxville Thursday night, Knoxville police said.

Officers were called to the 2500 block of Parkview Avenue shortly before 7:30 p.m. When they arrived, they found a man with a gunshot wound to his left leg.

The victim has been identified as 46-year-old Cornell Bailey. KPD said he had just returned home from buying alcohol when two males followed him into his home and demanded his drugs, money and cell phone. Bailey told investigators he got into a struggle with one of the suspects when the gun discharged and struck him in the leg.

After Bailey was allegedly shot in the leg, witnesses said the two suspects ran outside and left the area on foot.

According to Knoxville Police, the two suspects were described as black men wearing black ski masks covering their faces. One man was wearing a black jacket and the other was wearing a green jacket.

Police said Bailey was taken to the hospital with a minor injury.
