2 charged in deadly South Knoxville shooting

UPDATE, Wednesday, Nov. 22: Two suspects accused in a deadly shooting on Fisher Place in South Knoxville have been charged, according to Knoxville police.

Officers charged Lamone Price Simmons, 35, and Tykemien Todd Stewart, 18, with one count of first-degree murder in the shooting death of James Kevin Bell, 36, of LaFollette, on Monday night.

According to the release from KPD, the pair was charged Tuesday. Both are being held on a $500,000 bond in the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility.

Knoxville police said Bell had been living with a relative in the Fisher Place home where the shooting took place for several weeks.

UPDATE, Tuesday, Nov. 21: The man who was killed in a shooting in South Knoxville Monday night has been identified as 36-year-old James Kevin Bell, from LaFollette, Tennessee.

Knoxville police said Bell had been living with a relative in the Fisher Place home where the shooting took place for several weeks.

Investigators are interviewing persons of interest in the fatal shooting. KPD said they expect charges to be filed in connection to Bell's death "in the near future."

PREVIOUS STORY: Knoxville police said a man died following a shooting on in South Knoxville Monday night.

Police arrived to the shooting at 2315 Fisher Place near Island Home Avenue shortly before 11 p.m. to find a man dead with a gunshot wound.

Police said the shooting does not appear to be random. The investigation is ongoing and KPD said there is little information they can release at this time. The man's name is not being released until his next of kin is notified.
