First Tennessee Bank robbery suspect arrested

According to the Department of Justice, authorities arrested 48-year-old Craig Fine on Thursday and charged him with armed bank robbery and brandishing and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence.

UPDATE: A man has been arrested and charged with the armed bank robbery of the First Tennessee Bank on Merchant's Drive earlier this week.

According to the Department of Justice, authorities arrested 48-year-old Craig Fine on Thursday and charged him with armed bank robbery and brandishing and discharging a firearm during a crime of violence.

He appeared in court Friday and has a preliminary hearing set for March 22 at 1:30 p.m.

Fine allegedly pulled out a gun and fired it inside the bank before taking off with some money. It wasn't clear how much money Fine was able to make off with.

Before leaving the bank, Fine also claimed to have a pipe bomb, according to the DOJ.

Fine has not been indicted and should be presumed innocent until his guilty is proven beyond a reasonable doubt.

ORIGINAL STORY: Officials are searching for the man suspected of robbing the First Tennessee Bank on Merchants Drive at gunpoint Tuesday afternoon.

The man robbed the bank around 1:15 p.m., according to the Knoxville FBI field office. Officials said the man pulled out a handgun and fired it inside the bank before getting away with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was injured by the gunshot.

The suspect is described as a white man of a slender build, approximately 6-foot tall. He had light colored hair and was wearing dark sunglasses, a Vols baseball hat and a red and black plaid flannel jacket, officials said.
