A former marine was sentenced on Tuesday to life in prison without the possibility of parole for the 2014 murder of 19-year-old Oak Ridge native Erin Corwin.
Christopher Brandon Lee, 27, was found guilty in early November of one felony count of first degree murder with jurors finding true a sentencing enhancement of intentionally killing the victim by "means of lying in wait."
Corwin's body was found in an abandoned 140-foot mine shaft in Joshua Tree National Park in August 2014. A rescue team found her body after about seven weeks.
"Today we were able to achieve justice not only for Erinbut for her family and friends," San Bernadino Deputy District Attorney Sean Daugherty said in a statement Tuesday.
