JCSO: Dandridge woman charged with 1st-degree murder after admitting to shooting her husband

Julie Ann Pope-Bybee, 47, of 1707 Breezie Point Lane, was taken into custody at her home after her husband's body was discovered in a shed on the property.

DANDRIDGE, Tenn. — An investigation into a missing person conducted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, White Pine Police Department, and the 4th District Attorney General's Office has lead to first-degree murder charges for a Dandridge woman.  

Julie Ann Pope-Bybee, 47, of 1707 Breezie Point Lane, was taken into custody at her home after her husband Rusty LeRoy Bybee, 50, body was discovered in a shed on the property.  

According to the arrest warrant, a detective initially followed up on a missing person report issued for Rusty Bybee. The detective said the man's employer said he hadn't been to work in several days.

After obtaining permission to search the man's property, the detective said he located the man's body. According to the warrant, the wife admitted to deputies she had shot her husband multiple times.

She is currently being held in the Jefferson County Detention Center on a $1 million bond.
