Kentucky officers arrested a Tennessee man on charges of trying to coerce a minor to engage in sex over the internet.
The Office of Attorney General in Kentucky said it charged 45-year-old Billie Gene Spears from Jacksboro on Monday after he was caught sending sexually explicit text messages and emails to investigators posing as a minor.
Spears is charged with one count of unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sex, which is a Class D felony.
Spears is being held in the Franklin County Regional Jail in Frankfort, Ky. He was scheduled to be arraigned in court today.
“I appreciate the work of our cyber investigators and the team from Frankfort Police Department for assisting with this case,” Beshear said. “It is one of our core missions to ensure our children are protected from those who seek to exploit and abuse them.”
