KPD responded to a shooting that hospitalized a person Sunday afternoon in Park City.

Officers arrived at 2936 Lay Avenue around 4:00 p.m. to investigate a shooting.

When officers arrived, they found 20-year-old Demarcus Russell suffering from a gunshot wound. Russell was taken to UT Medical for treatment.

A relative to the victim said a car drove down Elmwood Avenue to the intersection of Lay Avenue, where an occupant inside the vehicle shot twice.

Police said the relative was vague on the details, and the victim only nodded "no" when asked if he knew who shot him.

This comes less than 24 hours after a fatal shooting just a few blocks away off Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue.

Police said the two shootings are not connected.
