A man has been arrested in connection with the armed robbery of a Blount County store on Christmas Eve, confirmed Blount County Sheriff James Berrong.

Deputies say 24-year-old Micah Lee Sherwood of Maryville faces charges of aggravated robbery, aggravated kidnapping and unlawful possession of a firearm. He is being held at the Blount County Detention Facility on bonds totaling $101,000.

Sherwood is currently serving parole for an attempted robbery conviction in 2011.

The Blount County Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's help identifying a suspect who robbed Ian's Market at gunpoint early Christmas Eve.

Deputies say the robbery happened just before 7:30 a.m. at the store on Morgantown Road. A store employee told deputies a masked man came into the store brandishing a handgun and demanded cash. The suspect took off in a small dark vehicle with cash and other items.

The suspect is described as approximately 5'9" with a stocky build. He was wearing a black mask that covered his whole face, a black and gray striped hooded jacket, black pants and tennis shoes.
