Teenagers escape from Kingston Academy psychiatric treatment center

Four teenagers ran from the Kingston Academy psychiatric residential treatment center.

Two 15-year-old boys, a 13-year-old girl and a 14-year-old girl ran from the Kingston Academy psychiatric residential treatment center in Roane County on Sunday, according to the Tennessee Department of Children's Services.

Officials said one of the boys was picked up by a Knox County Sheriff's deputy in Farragut on Tuesday morning, and was taken to a Knox County Detention Center. Officers saw the other three teenagers but were unable to catch up to them.

DCS said the teens ran from Kingston Academy on Saturday as well. One boy was returned to the facility by Oak Ridge law enforcement and the three others returned on their own.

The Department of Children's Services is looking into the incidents.

Kingston Academy is a 52-bed psychiatric residential treatment center.

Jasir Diab, executive director of Kingston Academy, said the facility is "fully cooperating with local law enforcement to locate the truant students."

"All local licensing and regulatory agencies have been notified. All of our students on campus are safe and secure," Diab said.
