(WBIR - Knoxville) Knoxville is one of the worst cities in the country for bed bugs, according to a list published by Orkin Pest Control.

Knoxville comes in at 24 on the list of 50 cities, up from last year's ranking of 34. Orkin says it ranks cities by the number of bed bug treatments it used in the cities over the last year and by how many Orkin inspections verified the presence of bed bugs.

Knoxville is not the only Tennessee city on the list. Nashville is ranked 22 on this year's rankings. Asheville also made the list at number 21.

Chicago ranked as the worst city for bed bugs.

Orkin says it is important to remember that bed bugs are not necessarily a sign of uncleanliness. They have been found in upscale homes and hotels, movie theaters, schools and in public transit in all 50 states.
