One person died and another was hurt after a single-vehicle accident on Alcoa Highway Sunday morning, according to a release from the Alcoa Police Department.
APD said the vehicle was traveling northbound on Alcoa Highway when it suddenly veered off the roadway, according to witnesses. The vehicle struck a light pole and caught fire, according to the release.
A female passenger died at the scene, and the driver is at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in serious condition, according to the release.
The names of the victims have not been released as police notify next of kin.
