The Roane County Discovery Bus will soon be driving through local neighborhoods to bring science to students.
The bus started as a collaboration between Leadership Roane County and the school district. Both converted a school bus to house a library and science equipment.
The bus take a ride to neighborhoods and local elementary schools, even on weekend, engaging kids in reading, science and technology.
"Things like hands on science experiments take resources," Leah Watkins, Roane County director of schools, said. "And, sometimes, that's a challenge for families to come by with. So, we want to inspire our kids and provide this opportunity."
The Roane County Discovery Bus will begin rolling next school year.
