A legendary Lady Vol is opening up to the world about her battle with mental illness.
Chamique Holdsclaw was back on Rocky Top Monday for a screening of the movie "Mind/Game: The Unquiet Journey of Chamique Holdsclaw."
The film focuses on Holdsclaw's rise to WNBA stardom, her struggle with depression and the strength she developed to speak her truth.
"There was a point where I was stuffing everything all of my feelings and emotions to myself. And ultimately it's like I exploded," Holdsclaw told WBIR 10News. "I just encourage kids or adults or whoever, you don't have to go at this alone. You have to learn to release and be open with your emotions."
The movie was released in 2015.
At the end of Monday's screening in Knoxville, Holdsclaw, an Olympic gold medalist, answered questions from the audience about the movie and her story.
