(WBIR) Work is underway to fix problems on an east Knoxville road notorious for flooding.

Construction crews are currently working to raise the roadbed of Prosser Road. The contractor will reduce four lanes on that road to two lanes with curbs, a sidewalk on the east side, and a bike lane.

The entire project is scheduled to wrap up by Dec. 19. In April, the City of Knoxville estimated that the project would cost $1.4 million.
