East Tennessee man donates airplane to 'Wings of Hope'

An East Tennessee man donated his airplane to the charity organization "Wings of Hope" Sunday afternoon.

One man made it his mission to generously provide an airplane to a nonprofit organization called "Wings of Hope" Sunday afternoon.

Danny King made that donation. He understood the need of the organization and wanted to find a way to fulfill it.

"Wings of Hope" is an organization that uses aviation to deliver resources to those in need. This plane will be something that takes them a long way, literally.

"Without these, we wouldn't be able to do what we do," Donald Hoerstkamp, a pilot with the nonprofit, said. "Our MAT program, the medical air transport program, is funded by donated planes as well as an auction we have once a year."

The King family is known for their generosity. King's father donated an airplane to Middle Tennessee State University several years ago.

The organization's website says it was founded in 1962 and provided relief to Kenya. In 2016, "Wings of Hope" was able to serve 285 patients in their medical air transport program.

If you want to be a part of the organization, they have a volunteer sheet on their website so you can sign up.
