It's been almost 40 years since the world was introduced to Star Wars. Kids who experienced the original movie in theaters have since grown up, but many never lost their passion for the films.

David Hagstrom was one of those kids. It was that passion that led him to the internet in search of plans for building his own R2D2.

David quickly discovered that many others shared his fondness for the little droid. It led him to start the East Tennessee R2 Builders Group where members can share ideas and tips for building life-size droids.
