Former Vol sentenced to jail time

A former Vol football player has been ordered to jail after pleading guilty following his arrest earlier this year in connection with a child sex sting operation.

As first reported by WCYB, the Pinellas County court clerk said that 23-year-old Mack Crowder was ordered by a judge to spend two months in jail. He pleaded guilty to a charge of unlawful use of a communication device.

Crowder was an offensive lineman at UT from 2011-2015. football for the University of Tennessee. He was arrested in February after police said he sought out and engaged in an online sexual conversation with a person he thought was a 14-year-old girl.

Police said it was actually an undercover agent. Five charges were originally filed against Crowder, but four were withdrawn by the state’s attorney.

In addition to the jail sentence, Crowder was ordered to spend three years on probation.
