Jefferson County fair gets into full swing with rodeo ridin' and wranglin'

The Jefferson County fair runs through Saturday, Aug. 18!

JEFFERSON COUNTY — The Jefferson County Fair is in full swing, and on Wednesday night people got enjoy a good ol' fashioned rodeo!

The fair kicked off Tuesday and runs through Saturday, Aug 18. This is the fair's 75th anniversary.

On Wednesday night, people enjoyed a rodeo with barrel racing, calf wrangling and lasso-roping events.

Of course, there was also some bull riding, too!

Organizers said the rodeo pays tribute to the cowboy heritage.

"We're taking a step into the Old West. You know, that's what we do," Rodeo announcer Mark Northall said. "We're here to put on this rodeo and we're thankful Tennessee's dedicated to the conservation and preservation of the American cowboy. In today's world, the real cowboys are few and far between, and this is our way of keeping the heritage alive."

The fair will feature other events through Saturday such as wrestling, a meet and greet with some of the stars of AMC's series The Walking Dead, demolition and lawn mower derbies, and more.
