Juvenile turns self in for shooting near Kingston gas station, police say

Kingston Police said a juvenile who was a person of interest for the shooting turned himself in to authorities at the Clinton Police Department in the early hours of March 19.

UPDATE March 19, 2018: A suspect accused in a shooting at a Weigel's parking lot in Kingston has turned himself in.

Kingston Police said a juvenile who was a person of interest for the shooting turned himself in to authorities at the Clinton Police Department in the early hours of March 19.

The juvenile was transferred to the Knoxville Juvenile Detention Center for a hearing.

It happened on Weigel's off of I-40 West at Gallaher Road in Kingston on March 3. Dispatch said the call came down around 6:57 p.m.

ORIGINAL STORY Posted March 3, 2018: Roane County Dispatch says Kingston Police Department officers are investigating the scene of a shooting in a gas station parking lot in Kingston on Saturday.

The scene is located at the Weigel's off of I-40 West at Gallaher Road in Kingston. Dispatch said the call came down around 6:57 p.m.

Chief Jim Washam with the Kingston Police Department told 10News at the scene that seven males were arguing in the parking lot, according to what investigators saw in surveillance footage. One person was shot in the altercation and transported to UT Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

Authorities are looking to identify the suspect in the shooting at this time.

Kingston Fire and Rescue as well as Oak Ridge Police Department were also on the scene at the gas station Saturday evening.
