The Knoxville-Knox County Peace Officers Memorial Service was held on Thursday to remember the service of peace officers who passed away from the past year.

Police and sheriff's departments from across East Tennessee joined together for the ceremony in downtown Knoxville.

The service included a special tribute for two officers who died in the line of duty last year.

Those included Maryville police officer Kenny Moats, and TBI agent De'Greaun Frazier.

Knoxville Police Chief David Rausch says the most important thing this service does is show support for their families.

"To let them know that we still have their backs and we're still here for them, that I think is the most important," said Rausch. "There's great community support that we see not only here in East Tennessee, but in Tennessee as a whole."

TBI, the Fraternal Order of Police, and Tennessee Highway Patrol were also represented at the service.
