Knox County's EOC dedicated in memory of former KEMA director

There will be a dedication and plaque unveiling. The EOC is located in the E-911 Center at 605 Bernard Avenue.

Knox County's Emergency Operations Center is set to be dedicated in memory of a former KEMA director.

Alan Lawson had a 35-year career in emergency management. At KEMA, he served as a training officer, operations officer and deputy director. He was appointed director in 2002. Lawson retired in March 2016 and passed away in January 2017.

Knox County Mayor Tim Burchett and City of Knoxville Mayor Madeline Rogero, Knoxville-Knox County Emergency Management Agency Director Colin Ickes, staff and other officials will hold a dedication event to name the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) in memory of former KEMA director Alan Lawson on Wednesday at 2 p.m.

There will be a dedication and plaque unveiling. The EOC is located in the E-911 Center at 605 Bernard Avenue.

Staff remember Lawson for his calm, dependable demeanor and his ability to bring responders together to better prepare for and respond to emergencies in our community.
