A Knoxville craft distillery will soon launch East Tennessee's first single malt whiskey in modern times.
PostModern Spirits is calling it the American Single Malt Whiskey.
Owners of PostModern Spirits say the drink is made to be unique to Knoxville.
"For us it's just kind of unique and it's special. It was a nice collaboration with the local brewers, and it's just something that we wanted to celebrate and kind of celebrate Knoxville," owner Stanton Webster said.
He said the single malt has a smoky character with vanilla and caramel notes.
The business plans to release it next week at a whiskey and beer pairing event at Public House with Crafty Bastard Brewery from 5 to 8 p.m.
Bottles of the new whiskey will be available to buy for $40 each at PostModern's tasting room starting next Friday. It will be available in local liquor stores starting March 27.
The launch comes ahead of the distillery's wider distribution release to the Nashville area.
“We’re growing and we’re going to be hitting other markets very soon,” Webster said. “This is a real exciting time for the craft cocktail scene in Knoxville and beyond.”
