A woman is being treated for severe injuries after she was hit by a train Wednesday night, according to Knoxville Police.
KPD said officers responded to a call of a person struck by a train near Randolph Street at Brigham Avenue about 6:30 p.m.
Officers found a woman trapped under a passing train. Emergency personnel from the Knoxville Fire Department and Rural/Metro Ambulance helped rescue the woman.
The woman was taken to the University of Tennessee Medical Center for severe injuries. Her name was not released Wednesday night.
KPD said they are investigating "why the female was trespassing on the railroad tracks."
