Krystal on Cumberland Avenue won't reopen

The company originally said they were closing the store temporarily during the Cumberland Avenue construction.

The Krystal on Cumberland Avenue is permanently closed, the company confirmed Wednesday, a change from their original plans to reopen the location once the Cumberland construction was complete.

Last spring, the company said they had closed the location temporarily due to decreased revenue during the lengthy construction project on the Strip.

The construction lasted more than two years as crews reduced traffic from four lanes to three, and widened the sidewalks. The city's construction project wrapped up in August, but the Krystal has yet to reopen their doors.

In a statement Wednesday, the company confirmed the Cumberland Avenue store won't be coming back, leaving a storefront open on a heavily traveled street.

“This was a business decision and is in no way a reflection of the hard work of this location’s management team or employees," the statement said. "Knoxville guests may still indulge their Krystal cravings by visiting one of the nine other Krystal locations in the market with the closest restaurants on Chapman Highway or Western Avenue.”
