KSP: Bell County man arrested after firing shotgun at officers

Kentucky authorities said the suspect shot at officers when they attempted to execute a search warrant.
Buford Warren, 51, of Fourmile, Ky.

A man is behind bars after Kentucky state authorities said he shot at officers with a shotgun through his window.

Kentucky State Police Post 10 in Harlan said it received a call from the Bell County Sheriff's Department to investigate an exchange of gunfire between deputies and a suspect.

Deputies took 51-year-old Buford Warren into custody after the incident. KSP said officers with BCSD and the Pineville Police Department were at Warren's residence in the Fourmile community to serve a search warrant.

When officers knocked on the door and announced themselves, KSP said the suspect fired one round from his shotgun at them through a window. A Bell County deputy returned fire and the suspect surrendered. Neither the officers nor the suspect were hurt by gunfire, but a Pineville officer was treated at the Pineville Community Hospital for cuts after the window shattered.

Warren was taken to the Bell County Detention Center. He is being charged with five counts of attempted murder of a police officer, five counts of wanton endangerment in the 1st degree on a police officer, and one count of 1st degree assault on a police officer.
