Rural/Metro has 60 days to improve its service in Loudon County, or face the end of its contract.

Loudon County's mayor and commission voted to put Rural/Metro on notice after receiving several complaints about its ambulance service.

They sent a letter to the company that cites six examples of poor service. They include:

  • A missed emergency call because of "a credible report that the crew slefp through the tone by E-911."
  • The refusal to transport a body from a fatal accident because "it [the corpse] would stink up by truck."
  • Not responding to calls in a timely manner
  • Not providing enough ambulances required by the agreement

If Rural/Metro doesn't improve its service, the county will terminate its agreement for breach of contract.

A spokesperson for Rural/Metro said the company could not comment because they had not yet received the letter.
