A robotics team from L&N STEM Academy took home an international award for their social media presence.

The L&N STEMpunks beat out 120 other teams to win the 2016 Media & Technology Innovation Award, sponsored by Comcast NBCUniversal.

The award recognized the team with the most robust digital media experience and marketing strategy to aid them in fundraising and spreading the word about their team.

They said it is an honor to receive the award after only having a team for five years.

“We've never been recognized at an international level,” said Julia Pavon, a junior at L&N. “We've never been to national championships before, so to get this award is amazing, and I'm so proud and happy for our team."

The team uses Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and their own website to share information about their robotics.
