Loudon County honors officers for heroic actions

Loudon County honored three servicemen Thursday afternoon after they rescued three women from a duplex fire earlier in February.

Loudon County honored three servicemen for saving three peoples' lives in a duplex fire.

Loudon County deputies Brandon Persterfield and Brandon Dishner along with Lenoir City Police Department Lt. Jeremy Dishner saved three others in a duplex fire earlier this month. When the three got to the scene, they realized people were still inside the flaming home.

Deputy Dishner broke through a window to rescue one older woman, escorting her out the front door of the home.

The three went back into the house and found another woman and a caretaker in a locked bedroom. They were able to get both of them out of the home and to safety.

The sheriff's office said during a service Thursday, without the actions of those officers, all three women may not have survived.

The officers said it's just part of their jobs.

"I never though I would get an award like this," Deputy Brandon Pesterfield said. "We're just doing our job."

Thankfully, none of the women or law enforcement officers sustained any injuries.
