(WBIR) Our country's finest heroes will help greet people traveling to and from East Tennessee this summer and fall.

A 27-foot display featuring the faces of each of the Medal of Honor recipients is now up at McGhee Tyson Airport. It's all part of the events leading up to September's Medal of Honor Convention in Knoxville.

A group of military members installed the large red, white and blue feature Saturday morning. They said having the convention in East Tennessee and getting a chance to meet the recipients will be a true honor. .

"This is heritage, this is character, this is intense," said Retired Chief Todd Johnson.

The Medal of Honor display is located on the main level before you reach the security checkpoint. It's scheduled to be up until October.
