Update Sunday 4:30 p.m.

A 78-year-old East Tennessee man shot and killed one person and seriously injured another this weekend all over a 40-year-old business deal, according to the McMinn County Sheriff.

Authorities said just after 9 p.m. Saturday they responded to a call of a man shot at the Englewood Package store. Store owner, Bill Haney, had been shot several times with a small caliber handgun. Haney told authorities Bobby Russell, 78, had walked into the store, shot him, then left.

Haney was flown to a Chattanooga Hospital.

McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy said while working the scene responders were sent to a home on County Road 478, just east of Englewood, where they found Bill Culberson, 80, dead in his driveway.

Sheriff Guy said authorities found that all three men had been associated with the Englewood Package Store business.

A few hours later, Russell turned himself in.

"He confessed to both crimes, and implied that he had become obsessed over a 40-year old business deal between himself, Haney, and Culberson which caused him to commit the shootings," Sheriff Guy said in a press release.

Russell is charged with First Degree Murder and Attempted Murder. He's being held on a $150,000 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday morning.

Jason Breeden is Culberson's great nephew. He said his grandfather and Culberson called each other every morning.

"They were always working together, trading cattle and everything. That's what they like to do," said Breeden.

He said his great uncle Bill owned a number of shops around town and developed a good reputation.

Many people said he was a man with no enemies.

"It was just kind of shocking, you know. Why would anyone want to do that to Bill?" said Breeden.

Haney is recovering in a hospital in Chattanooga according to sheriff Guy.
