Tennessee is known as the Volunteer State for a good reason.

Since the Revolutionary War, the residents of this state have been willing to risk their lives to protect the freedoms outlined in the U.S. Constitution.

However, no other men have displayed as much bravery as the men who have been awarded the Medal of Honor.

Fourteen East Tennesseans have been awarded the nation's highest honor for valor in combat across the span of four wars.
