NWS: Straight line winds caused storm damage in McMinn Co.

Storms that rolled through McMinn County brought strong winds which blew down trees, and even knocked down a mobile home -- sending one person to the hospital.

The National Weather Service said storm damage in McMinn County on Tuesday morning was due to straight line winds.

Winds of up to 80 mph blew a mobile home off its foundation near Riceville and took down trees and power lines on a path towards Englewood.

One person inside that mobile home had to go to the hospital.

According to McMinn County Sheriff Joe Guy, high winds from Tuesday's early storms knocked down trees and damaged structures in the County Road 100, 580 and 461 areas.

Sheriff Guy said people need to stay out of these areas while utility and emergency services respond.

Crews were on scene Tuesday afternoon to remove and manage wrecked trees and damaged power lines.
