An Oliver Springs man received only minor injuries after crashing his Ultralight plane while trying to land.

According to the Anderson County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to a report of a aircraft crash on Saturday around 3:30 p.m. in a field off Valley Drive.

The pilot, whose name has not been released, had crashed while trying to land at a private grass landing strip at his home on Ray Lane.

Authorities said the pilot received minor injuries but declined medical treatment. The aircraft had significant damage.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board were notified and plan to follow-up on the crash this week.
