Throughout the day, volunteers at Young-Williams Animal Shelters in Knoxville are responsible for cleaning, walking dogs, answering phones and greeting visitors, among other responsibilities.

To be a volunteer you have to work at least eight hours a month for a minimum of six months.
Volunteers have to pay a $30 fee to cover things like name tags and shirts for your shifts.

If you want to give some time to the Animal Center you can go to Young-Williams Animal Center's website, and fill out a Volunteer Application. If you get past that step, you're required to take a volunteer orientation class to see where you best fit in to help.
