Pay It Forward: Lucas Jones' Star Wars surprise

A #PayItForward movement continues to bring joy to a Rocky Hill Elementary student fighting cancer.

A #PayItForward movement continues to bring joy to a Rocky Hill Elementary student fighting cancer.

On March 30, eight-year-old Lucas Jones was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of childhood cancer that begins in the leg muscles.

His parents Robert and Karina support a family of three boys along with the expenses of Lucas' treatments.

Since Lucas was diagnosed, the community has rallied around his family looking for ways to help.

It’s important to note that this family shares a special bond and hobby. They all love Star Wars.

They love the movies so much, Lucas Jones was actually named after Star Wars' creator George Lucas.

As a way to show this family they care, the community is “Paying it Forward” by transforming a room in Lucas’ home.

The play room, which once had Star Wars toys scattered around the floor, stained carpet and an old couch, is now a thing of the past.

With the help of Knoxville Wholesale Furniture, Stanley Steemer, and Enrichment Federal Credit Union, this playroom has become the ultimate Star Wars lover’s paradise.

It's complete with a Star Wars mural, Millennium Falcon and dozens of new Star Wars goodies.

On Tuesday, Lucas was taken to his new playroom as Storm Troopers from Knoxville’s 501st Legion lined the hallway allowing him to enter.

His family is overwhelmed by the recent outpouring of support from our community:

RELATED: 225 cyclists showed their support earlier this month with donations going toward the Jones family.

RELATED: Lucas' friend, C.J. Hardy, shaved his head in September to rally around Lucas.

If you would like to donate, the family has a GoFundMe page. Their goal is to raise $75,000.
