Christmas lit up the skies in Pigeon Forge Saturday night.

The city rang in its 27th annual Winterfest at The Island which kicked off on November 8th. The four month long celebration of the season got off to a festive start with decorations, a tree lighting, dancing elves and an appearance by celebrity chef Paula Deen

The entertainment destination invested $1.5 million into this year's program.

The festivities don't end with the tree lighting, though. There will be plenty of events all season long. For more details and upcoming events, you can head to the department of tourism's website.
