<Monday night a woman in Sevier County was struck and killed by a van while she was walking on Newport Highway (US HWY 411). The Tennessee Highway Patrol says around 9:30 p.m., 22-year-old Tiffany Bass of Sevierville was walking on the left side of the fog line in the roadway of Newport Highway. The fog line is the white line painted on the right side of the road to aid drivers in times of heavy fog.Twenty-three year-old Candace Byrd of Sevierville was driving a Chevy van southbound on Newport Highway and hit Bass. According to a THP report, the impact from the van sent her into a guardrail.<
