A Powell man is in jail for the murder of a man he lived with in North Knox County, according to the Knox County Sheriff's Office.

In a press release, the sheriff's office said Jason Saffles, 35, is charged with first degree murder. He's accused of shooting Anthony Mitchell, 41, to death on Saturday in a field near their home.

The sheriff's office said both lived on Copeland Drive in North Knox County Powell community.

Saffles has no prior criminal history in Knox County. He is being held in the Roger D. Wilson Detention Facility on a $500,000 bond. Mitchell was arrested for assault in 2010, but the charge was later dismissed in court.
