RAM crews helping in Puerto Rico say they still need donations

Most of the island is still without reliable electricity, clean water, and other basic services, according to RAM officials.

Remote Area Medical has been in Puerto Rico since Hurricane Maria pushed through last month and left behind massive damage.

RAM Owner, Stan Brock, and volunteers were in Puerto Rico assessing the situation there. Most of the island is still without reliable electricity, clean water, and other basic services, according to RAM officials.

"Imagine Kingston Pike with no traffic signals!" RAM media relations specialist Robert D. Lambert said.

RAM has collected 50,000 pounds of additional disaster relief supplies that will be taken to Puerto Rico after crews determine the best way to get them there.

More than 60,000 pounds of humanitarian aid donated by Remote Area Medical was districuted Saturday in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.

In October, they partnered with FEDEX to ship 63,000 pounds of supplies to Puerto Rico.

Five of RAM's free mobile medical clinics are set to take place between Dec. 1 and Dec. 22 in western Puerto Rico.

"We are still in need of donations and volunteers to make this happen. We're encouraging people to go to www.ramusa.org to sign-up to volunteer and to donate! Folks can also text RAMRELIEF to 50155 to donate, as well," Lambert said.

The five RAM clinics are planned to be held in civic centers in the following western Puerto Rico locations: Moca, San Sebastian, San German, Aquada, and Anasco. Lambert said these will offer free dental, vision, and medical services, just like regular RAM clinics do.
