Roane Co. names new K-9 pup

They are asking the public to vote for a name on their Facebook page until March 29. Your choices are: Rōcō, Rook, Zeek or Hans.

UPDATE March 29, 2018: The new K-9 at the Roane County Sheriff's Office has a name!

Deputies have settled on Rōcō.

"He has spent the week here at the office. He has been meeting all of the officers, staff as well as the courthouse staff. He has done wonderful with everyone, and is loved and spoiled by everyone who has met him. As you can see he is a pretty tired pup. Look for future appearances," the sheriff's office wrote on Facebook Thursday.

ORIGINAL STORY March 16, 2018: The most adorable new addition to the Roane County Sheriff's Office needs a name!

The department has added a new K-9 deputy, a two-month old German Standard Schnauzer who will be used for community outreach in nursing homes, hospitals, assisted living, as well as schools. He's expected to arrive in Roane County the first week in April.

The breed, according to the sheriff's office, is known for its intelligence, loyalty, bravery and love for people.
