Sevier County officials say they are seeing a boost in the number of people signing up for emergency alerts.

The "Code Red" alert system had about 48-hundred subscribers before the November wildfires, but has increased to about 11-thousand.

The system sends out emergency phone, text or email messages to let people know what is going on in case of an emergency.

It sent one on Thursday during the extremely high winds to tell people where an emergency shelter was located.

Code Red has also added a weather alert system.

Anyone can sign up for the system. Information can be found here.
