Kelsea Ballerini performs onstage at the 2017 HeartRadio Music Festival at the Las Vegas Village on September 23, 2017.

With her infectious energy and innate hit-making skills, Kelsea Ballerini has spent the past three years steadily conquering country music with an eye towards a pop breakthrough, following in the steps of her idols Shania Twain and Taylor Swift while becoming a star in her own right.

Ahead of Ballerini's sophomore release Unapologetically, out Friday, USA TODAY is premiering an acoustic version of the album's title track.

It's the first time Ballerini is sharing her stripped-down take on the track, a perfect showcase for her smooth-as-honey vocals and the song's similarly sweet subject matter, her fiancé Morgan Evans.

Evans, an Australian country music singer, popped the question to Ballerini on Christmas Day in 2016.

"We wrote the song right after I had gotten back from Australia," she told USA TODAY over email about making Unapologetically. "I remember just really in my head being like, 'Oh I feel it happening, love is happening,' but I couldn’t really talk about it yet. So before you talk about it, you write about it."

Unapologetically comes out Nov. 3.
