A baby rhino has been having trouble sleeping alone at an animal-rescue center in South Africa after witnessing his mother getting killed by poachers, according to video from ITN News.

The 4-month-old rhino named Gertjie was found "crying inconsolably" next to his dead mother by members of the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Center, who said the rhino would not leave her side.

Staff are taking turns feeding Gertjie every three hours as he recovers from his ordeal and sleep outside his room. The center is asking for donations so it can have enough fat-free milk for the rhino, who will be released to a a wildlife reserve when he is ready.
